This is a 8-week course to be held Thursdays 6:30-8:30pm, March 20th – May 8th

Much of improv lives and dies by its zany jokes, but in this class we’ll stake out richer, more nuanced territory. Rather than focus on finding the game, we’ll take the advice of improv guru Del Close and 1) slow down, 2) respond honestly, and 3) play characters close to ourselves. The result will be interesting, luxuriously paced scenes with a greater emphasis on character and situation. And soon, with hard work and some luck, we’ll be storytelling on stage!

The course will culminate in a graduation show using a narrative improv form of our own creation. Because of its intensity, the class will be limited to eight students. And because the course will require a strong sense of improv fundamentals, completion of Level 3 Improv, “One Two Three Prov” or the equivalent is required. Please reach out early to reserve a spot or to ask any questions you may have: bradleybazzle@gmail.com.

By the end of this course, students will learn to:

  • Listen and be attentive on stage

  • Be patient and calm during scenes

  • Make productive world-building choices

  • Find the heart and motivation that drives a story
