This is an 6 week class held Thursday evenings 6-8pm from August 31st to October 5th at work.shop (160 WInston Dr. Athens, GA).
In this course, students will be introduced to the techniques and tools that are fundamental to an actor's craft. Each week will consist of group exercises, solo/scene work, and time spent learning basic terminology for both theater and film/television. The foundation will be laid for students to continue their acting education through the various methodologies like Meisner, Strasberg, Hagen, Loughlin, etc. Whether you want more grounded scene work in your improv scenes, or want to get ready (#stayready) for opportunities created by nearby Athena Studios, this class will add technique to your performance toolkit.
Jade Fernandez has been acting since kindergarten. She received her B.A. in Theater with an emphasis in Performance from UGA, and has been a professional film and television actress since 2013. She can be seen on the shows Law and Order:SVU, Young Rock, Tell Me Lies, Dynasty, and Walker, among many others. This summer, you can catch her in the movie Strays alongside Will Forte. Previously, she coached Solo and Duet Acting for University Interscholastic League while she was an 8th Grade Teacher, and has taught an Improv for Actors course for WIFTA and other acting studios. Athens has been her home since 2017 thanks to the creation of the self-tape.
