A Class for People to Play

This is a 6-week course held Sundays from 2:00-4:00pm September 24th - October 29th.
Classes are held @ work.shop • 160 Winston Dr #9 Athens, GA 30607.
Step into the world of clowning for 6 weeks this fall! Whether you’re an actor, improv person, stand-up comedian, or just a regular Barbra, learning clown can greatly improve your sensitivity, humanity, vulnerability, and creativity on stage - or in court. By focusing on theatrical games (known formally as “Le Jeu”) we’ll explore failure, stage-pleasure, and play to search for your inner lovable idiot. Blending the teachings and styles of many clown teachers (Philippe Gaulier, Jacques Lecoq, Viggo Venn, Dr. Brown, Michael Toomy), this course will serve as a great introduction to a beautiful art form.
Taught by Chase Brantley
Born and raised in Athens, GA, Chase also happens to be an award-winning clown performer. He has studied under some of the greatest clown teachers alive and holds a 2 year French diploma from the clown master Philippe Gaulier. Fruit Salad, his very stupid fruit-based clown show, is currently touring across the US and UK. "
Disclaimer: This course will not have face makeup. It will also not be the kind of clowning that can be seen in circuses, horror movies, or terrible children’s parties.
